Giving managers feedback on their managerial behaviors and the climate they create in their team is powerful. However, there's nothing like seeing leadership in action for the learning to really hit home.
The Tower Building Exercise (TBE) is an interactive game that provides participants with first hand experience of the impact of management style on the performance of the team. It works by asking you to divide your participants into groups of one manager with two or three team members. Then, as a group, they need to build a tower using different sized, and shaped, blocks. It sounds easy - until you tell them that team members must be blindfolded and use their non-dominant hand!
