Chris Matthews

Chris Matthews | Chairman

Chris joined Hay Group in Canada in 1975. In 2013, he became chairman of Hay Group having served previously as chairman and chief executive since 1987.

In 1990 he led Hay Group through a successful management buyout from Saatchi & Saatchi. Chris continues to play an active consulting role, working with CEOs and boards of directors to turn their business strategies into action. He works in the areas of corporate governance, executive reward, leadership transformation and organizational effectiveness.

Chris has an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business and a BBA degree from the University of New Brunswick and is a member of the World Presidents’ Organization.
Stephen Kaye

Stephen Kaye | President and CEO

Stephen joined Hay Group in 1993. He was appointed chief financial officer of Hay Group worldwide in 1998 and president and CEO in March of 2013. 

Before joining Hay Group, Stephen worked with one of the leading international accountancy firms for over seven years, based in their London and Philadelphia offices. He worked extensively with professional services businesses and the insurance industry.

Stephen has a BSc(Eng) in mechanical engineering from Imperial College, London and is a chartered accountant in England and Wales.

Israel Berman

Israel Berman | Global managing director, mature markets

Israel Berman was appointed to the role of global managing director, mature markets in 2013. In this role, Israel has operational responsibility for Hay Group’s businesses in Europe, excluding Turkey, Poland and Eastern Europe, as well as Pacific, Japan/Korea and the United States as well as being the joint leader of the global solutions consulting business.

Most recently, Israel served as Regional Managing Director, Europe and was previously the Regional Managing Director, Asia-Pacific and Global Managing Director, Building Effective Organizations.

A business veteran with over 23 years of experience, Israel brings in-depth global experience to help clients turn their strategic vision into working reality. This includes hands-on leadership of international teams working on mergers and acquisitions, strategy development and implementation and organizational restructuring – both as a corporate executive and Hay Group management consultant. Israel provides a wide range of insights and advice in the areas of strategy decoding and business analysis, value chain and operating model design, organizational restructuring, capability building and change management.

Prior to joining Hay Group in 2004, Israel held senior corporate roles in companies such as Best Foods. He holds an MBA from the Reccanati Business School at Tel-Aviv University, majoring in organizational behavior; and a BA from Ben-Gurion University, majoring in behavioral sciences.


Tharuma Rajah

Tharuma Rajah | Global managing director, fast growing markets

Tharuma Rajah was appointed to the role of global managing director, fast growing markets in 2013. In new role, Tharuma has operational responsibility for Hay Group’s businesses in Asia, excluding Japan and Korea, as well as Latin America, Turkey, Poland and Eastern Europe as well as being the joint leader of the global solutions consulting business.

Most recently, Tharuma served as regional managing director, South East Asia, Pacific, Middle East and Africa.

As a consultant, he helps organizations make the major shift required for organization transformation by bringing insights to clients about the scale of change facing them and how they can work towards the change by mitigating the risk of derailment in that journey. He also helps develop and implement talent, assists with leadership transformation interventions and clarifies the impact of business change on organizations and roles.

Tharuma holds a Bachelor of Law Degree from the University of London, and has been called to the Bar of England and Wales. He is co-author of the book “The Indian CEO: A Portrait of Excellence “(Sage Publications).


Philip Spriet

Philip Spriet | Global managing director, productized services

Philip ensures that local and international clients in over 100 countries have access to high quality and globally consistent tools and protocols that can support their recurring processes in talent, effectiveness and reward benchmarking. These services link to Hay Group’s world class databases and are delivered through local account management organizations or e-platform.

Philip joined Hay Group in 1990 in the Belgium office, and since has been active in many Western and Eastern European countries, servicing clients with wide scale remuneration strategy implementation programs and setting up Reward Information Services activities. Prior to his current job, Philip has been in charge of the Russian Hay Group operation, and he has been the Global Head of Reward Information Services.

Philip obtained his Master degree at the University of Leuven. He achieved additional qualifications in Statistics (Brussels) and Management (Gent).

Leslie Wilkin

Lesley Wilkin | Global managing director, people delivered servies

Lesley is leading the development of Hay Group’s standardized services. This business will ensure that local and international clients have access to our world class intellectual property and expertise through a range of high quality, standardized services delivered locally.

Currently, Lesley is also managing director of Hay Group in the UK and Ireland. Her consulting experience includes organisation and leadership development, top team effectiveness and coaching. She has also managed a number of our most important client relationships. Her breadth of experience enables her to offer insightful and pragmatic support to her clients on a wide range of people issues.

Prior to joining Hay Group in 1996, Lesley worked for 15 years in human resources latterly on the top team as a director for a large public sector organisation. She has a BSc in economics, Postgraduate Diploma in management, Diploma in Board effectiveness and is a Fellow of the CIPD.

Jean Marc Laouchez

Jean-Marc Laouchez | Managing director

Over the course of his career, Jean-Marc has developed a passion for helping leaders and organizations transform and grow by integrating business and people dimensions.

Jean-Marc specializes in strategy implementation, addressing board governance, culture transformation, change management, turnaround, M&A and organization issues. He is also a mentor and coach to several CEOs and facilitates the alignment and development of senior executive teams.

Prior to joining Hay Group, Jean Marc has acquired broad experience working in management consulting firms and financial institutions, including time at McKinsey.

Jean-Marc holds a Business Administration degree from École Supérieure du Commerce de Paris and M.B.A. degree from the University of Pennsylvania. While at Wharton, Jean-Marc completed an exchange program with Coppead, at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro.
