With market deregulation approaching, Australian financial services provider GESB had a significant opportunity to move from providing a service to just one market to establish a broader-based customer-focused business. Working with Hay Group, it developed a new operating model and business structure to seize the opportunity.

GESB's organizational transformation is now almost complete and the business is ready to move into the wider financial services market. Product lines have been finalized, with GESB now offering a range of wealth management services, and the organization has a clear distribution model and redefined approach to customer service. Most importantly, it has put in place rigorous governance to ensure that as its business changes and new customers join, it continues to manage existing funds and the resulting risks effectively.
