Areva: Raising engagement in mining

Hay Group helped Areva raise performance levels and drop turnover percentage.

When the global uranium giant AREVA's Canadian operation, AREVA Resources Canada (ARC) ran its first ever employee survey in 2006, the results showed several opportunities for improvement. Hay Group helped ARC devise a comprehensive action plan including an intensive leadership development program, an enhanced performance management system and an overall upscaling of many people management practices. Three years later, overall employee engagement levels are up by 9 per cent from 2006 to 2009. Employee turnover has dropped by 58 per cent and grievances have dropped by 70 per cent.
